Tiles on the walls can make the bathroom decor flow. Tie the wall decor in with the rest of the room. If the countertops have been done in tile, consider adding a framed design with the same or complementary tiles. Large mirrors can make a small room look bigger, so consider unframed mirrors or those framed in elegant, classical designs for a contemporary throwback.

Mirrors don't have to be decorative to be a striking feature. Stone, tile, metal, and glass are all found in a contemporary design style, so think outside the box for creative wall decorations. Stone plaques, hand-painted tiles, tile designs, metal wall sculptures, and mirrors can all fit into the look of the bathroom. Plants of all shapes and sizes give any room a welcoming feel, so consider wall-mounted stone planters for small plants.

A few small, decorative touches can go a long way. Wall decorations can take up as much or as little of the available wall space as desired. For a completely open wall, consider installing a mirror on the entire wall, broken up into sections (3- by 3-foot pieces, 4- by 4-foot pieces). The same can be done with tile designs. Alternately, include a few single pieces of decorative tile on either side of a vanity mirror or behind a wall sconce.
