Steps to Make a Baby Diaper Cake
A diaper cake is a traditional centerpiece at a baby shower that doubles as a decoration and a useful gift for the mother-to-be. It's made of dozens of rolled-up diapers stacked into tiers and decorated with common baby items. Does this Spark an idea?

Materials
-
A three-tiered diaper cake requires between 60 and 70 newborn-size diapers, depending on the brand and how tightly they're rolled. The centerpiece sits on a cake plate or tray, and each tier is held together by ribbon. Silk flowers or baby items such as pacifiers, teething rings, rattles and small stuffed animals decorate each tier.
Steps
-
Unfold and tightly roll each diaper from short end to short end. Wrap a 1-inch wide strip of paper around the center of each diaper, secured by tape. Stand a diaper up on its end and stand a ring of diapers around it. The bottom tier has three rings of diapers. The middle tier has two rings, and the top tier has one ring placed around a baby bottle. Wrap ribbon around each tier, tied with a bow. Stack the tiers on the cake plate.

Considerations
-
Rolling the diapers starting with the printed design end results in an all-white cake. Decorate with any baby items you'd like to give the mother-to-be, but make sure to remove the tags and any packaging so it looks like a cake rather than a merchandise stand.
