As its name implies, the Fortwo can seat two people. It is powered by a 1-liter, 61-cubic-inch rear-mounted three-cylinder engine. It comes with a five-speed transmission and anti-lock braking system. The Fortwo is 106.1 inches long and just under 61 inches high. Its maximum speed is 90 mph and takes just under 13 seconds to reach 60 mph. The Fortwo, according to EPA estimates, gets 33 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.

Daimler introduced an electric version of the Fortwo in the United States in October 2010. This model is powered by a lithium-ion battery that can be charged by either a 220- or 110-volt outlet. The electric Fortwo can travel about 82 miles on one charge.
