1935 Ford Truck Identification

In 1935, Ford Motor Company redesigned its truck line in order to give the new models a more modern look. The design departed from the square body style of previous models, and adopted rounded features with smoother curves.

  1. Engine

    • The Ford V8 engine was redesigned in 1935. The new engine was 221 cubic inches and had 85 horsepower.

    Cab

    • Because of the engine redesign, the engine was moved 8 inches forward on the truck's chaise. This significantly increased the size of the passenger compartment compared to previous models.

    Front End

    • The grille on the 1935 Ford truck was made more round than previous models, with a generally heart-like shape. It was also pushed forward, so that the grille was even with with the front fenders.

    Drive Train

    • The 1935 Ford pickup had a three-speed manual transmission that sent power to the rear end. It had mechanically actuated drum brakes on all four wheels.
