High and Low

Indeed reports that Mississippi, New York, West Virginia, Wyoming, Massachusetts and Alabama have the highest average salaries, all above $80,000 as of 2010. On the bottom are Hawaii, Utah and Louisiana, which all average $60,000 annually. However, as is true with all averages, an individual's pay may be much higher or lower than those figures, even in relatively high-paying states.

Considerations
-
WorldWideLearn reports that a new fashion marketer can expect to make around $37,191 while gaining on-the-job experience in a store or boutique. Upon moving up to a management position, perhaps off the store floor itself, your salary will rise; the top bracket earns in six figures. Competition is fierce, so you might not start out in marketing, but instead in purchasing or retail, which offer lower salaries.
