The Best Way to Remove Cat Urine From Carpet
The leading cause of felines being turned over to shelters is urination problems, according to Cats of Australia. Fortunately, urine stains are easily cleaned from carpets and the underlying cause of the problem can usually be resolved with medical treatment. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Natural Ingredients
-
Blot the urine stain up with paper towels. Wet the area with a mixture that is half distilled white vinegar and half water. Allow to dry, then sprinkle with baking soda. After this, spread 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide and a squirt of dish soap on top. Work into the carpet with a brush and allow to dry, then vacuum up the residue.
Precautions
-
Do not use a product that contains ammonia to clean your carpet. A cat's urine naturally contains ammonia, so this will only encourage it to use the same spot. Be sure to read the label of any cleaning products before applying them to the urine stain.

Causes
-
If your cat normally uses a litter box but suddenly begins urinating on the carpet, check to see if it is clean. If so, your animal could have a urinary tract infection. Males also may spray to mark their territory unless they are neutered. Have your pet examined by a licensed veterinarian to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
