Smart cars are not as powerful as other cars on the market.

Development of the Smart Car began in 1993 and by 2006 the vehicle was introduced in America. While a Smart Car might make parking easier due to its smaller size, it does not offer the same level of power as most cars on the market.

  1. The Engine

    • The 2011 Smart Car will have similar engine power as 2010 models. The 2011 version will feature a standard micro-hybrid engine with 71 horsepower. The Smart Car Xclusive will offer an engine capable of creating 102 horsepower.

    Speed

    • The 2011 Xclusive can travel from 0-60 in under 8.9 seconds.

    Going Electric

    • In 2011, the Smart Fortwo Electric Drive will be introduced which will feature a maximum of 41 horsepower when fully accelerated and a top speed of 65 mph. The Electric Drive will be able to travel 82 miles before needing to be re-charged.
