Guide to Skin Care

Your skin is the first thing people see--that's why it's important to take good care of it. From dryness and aging, to acne and other problems, there are ways to correct and prevent the flaws in your skin. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Dryness

    • Dry skin can be uncomfortable. If dryness is a problem, use an over-the-counter moisturizer with an SPF of 15 or more to add moisture. Avoid the sun, and take warm, rather than hot, baths and showers. If your skin is seriously dry, you may need to consult with a dermatologist.

    Aging Skin

    • Aging skin is a fact of life. The best way to reduce the look of aging skin is to keep your skin moisturized, avoid the sun and don't smoke. Because of genetics, some people's skin may age sooner rather than later. If this is a problem, consult with your dermatologist. She may be able to give you a strong under-eye cream or other moisturizer to slow the aging process.

    Acne

    • Acne usually effects everyone at some point in their life. This annoying skin condition can be helped. If you have mild symptoms, use an over-the-counter cleanser and make sure to wash your face in the morning and before bed. Use a spot treatment that contains salicylic acid for those annoying pimples that may pop up. If you have severe acne, talk to your dermatologist. There are prescription pills, ointments and face washes that can help.
