Jeep Liberty Renegade Specifications

Chrysler's Jeep division replaced its long-in-the-tooth Cherokee compact SUV with the all-new Liberty SUV in 2002. The Renegade package added to the little Liberty some rugged exterior body cladding, a roof rack and roof-mounted fog lights to attract off-roading enthusiasts.

  1. Engine

    • The Liberty Renegade was powered by a 3.7-liter V6 motor. The 12-valve single-overhead-cam engine had a 3.66-inch bore, a 3.57-inch stroke and a compression ratio of 9.7 to 1. Output for the Renegade's motor was rated at 210 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 235 ft.-lbs. of torque at 4,000 rpm. First- and second-generation Liberty Renegades employed the same PowerTech engines.

    Exterior Dimensions

    • The first-generation Liberty Renegade, produced from 2002 to 2007, sat on a 104.3-inch wheelbase. It had an overall length of 174.4 inches. It measured 71.6 inches in width and 70.2 inches in height. The second generation, introduced in 2008, saw these proportions grow. The wheelbase expanded 1.8 inches, and overall vehicle length grew 2.5 inches. The width of the vehicle expanded by 0.8 inch while the height stayed the same.

    Fuel Economy

    • The Liberty Renegade drew EPA estimated fuel economy ratings of 15 to 17 miles per gallon in city driving and between 21 and 22 mpg on the highway.
