Rights & Obligations of the Employee in Labor Contracts
A labor contract, also known as a contract for employment, establishes the rights and obligations of the employer and the employee, according to Cornell University Law School. For example, a labor contract specifically delineates the rights and job requirements for an employee.

Any rights or obligations set forth in labor contract must be consistent with the law of the state where the agreement was created. Conflicts between state law and contract terms either renders a particular term or the entire contract invalid, depending on the significance of the provision.
Employer Breach of Contract

If an employer fails to honor the contractual rights of an employee, she can file suit against the company for breach of contract. She is entitled to compensation that includes lost income and reimbursement for any other losses sustained because of the breach.

Employee Breach of Contract

An employer possesses the right to terminate an employee who fails to meet his labor contract obligations. If the employer suffered financial or some other type of loss due to the employee's breach of contract, the employer can sue the employee for compensation.
