How to Compare AARP & AAA Motor Clubs

Motor clubs help drivers in need of roadside assistance and offer other perks. These clubs give you access to free towing and roadside assistance through membership by a monthly or annual fee.

As of 2010, AARP Roadside Assistance offers benefits of flat tires changing, up to 100 miles of towing included, gas delivery, jumping of a dead batteries, locksmith service, legal reimbursement, theft rewards, trip interruption reimbursement and RV coverage. AAA Roadside Assistance offers towing, help with flat tires and dead batteries, fuel delivery, lockout and extrication help, trip interruption reimbursement, auto stereo theft protection and legal defense reimbursement.

It is important to know if you will be able to use your motor club wherever you are traveling. AARP's motor club offers 24-hour assistance everywhere in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. The club also covers whatever vehicle you are in and whoever is driving. AAA's motor club has more than 1,000 offices in the U.S. and Canada.

Fees

As of 2010, AARP offers four packages ranging from $45 to $71 for a single person. It also offers couple packages from $45 to $81 and family packages from $76 to $101. AAA offers five packages ranging from $52 to $141 for the primary member. You can also add associates to your package for an additional $22 to $40, depending on which package you choose.
