Information on Scotts Turf Builder

Create lush, green lawns with Scotts Turfbuilder products.

The Scotts company markets a variety of Turf Builder products, including WinterGuard Fall Lawn Fertilizer with or without Plus 2 Weed Control, Sun & Shade Mix for reseeding, and Starter Fertilizer. All Turf Builder products are formulated to create healthier, fuller lawns.

Winterguard

WinterGuard Fall Lawn Fertilizer should be applied to a dry lawn on a fall day when the winds are calm. Watering the lawn after application isn't required but is encouraged to speed the greening process. This product promotes stronger and deeper root growth over the winter months.

Sun & Shade®

Sun & Shade reseeding mixture contains various grass seeds, including Thermal Blue Kentucky Bluegrass that does well in extreme heat. Scotts grass seed is coated to protect it from drying out during germination.

Starter Fertilizer

Starter fertilizer is applied when planting new seed, sod or plugs or when the lawn needs a greening boost. Starter fertilizer should not be used near storm drains or water sources. Check the weather forecast before applying, and do not apply if heavy rain is expected.

Fertilizer Analysis

The fertilizer analysis of WinterGuard fertilizer is 22-2-14 and Starter fertilizer is 24-24-4. The three ingredients represented by these numbers respectively are the percentage of content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
