New York City Tourism for Kids
Over 45 million people visited New York City in 2009. Many of these tourists were children. Not every New York tourist attraction is kid-friendly but there is plenty to do with kids in tow. Many New York attractions cater to children especially or have particular elements that appeal to them.

Three children's museums, including the Children's Museum of the Arts, welcome all ages. The American Museum of Natural History is always a big hit with kids; its Discovery Room offers activities for children aged five to 12 to explore, from artifacts, specimens and puzzles to scientific challenges.

Central Park offers a choice of two zoos--the Central Park Zoo as well as the Tisch Children's Zoo, which offers interactive activities for kids, a petting zoo, climbing activities and performances. To catch some sea breezes, head downtown to the South Street Seaport to see the historic ships that are anchored there and take a tugboat ride around the harbor.

New York City has a fascinating history that appeals to many children. A visit to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island will bring history alive. The Empire State Building offers educational material to kids via its official website to prepare you for a visit. The Children's Galleries for Jewish Culture give youngsters the chance to explore the city's rich Jewish heritage.
