Emergency medical services (EMS) supervisors are responsible for managing the crew and overseeing the day-to-day operations of EMS teams, ambulatory services, fire service agencies and similar organizations. Individuals interested in the field should enroll in a degree program at an accredited school.

  1. Associate's Degrees

    • Associate of Science in Emergency Management degree programs provide students with a basic overview of the emergency management field as well as a fundamental training in management skills. Courses cover the principles of emergency management, EMS operations and organization, and emergency planning.

    Bachelor's Degrees

    • Baccalaureate degrees in emergency management are for EMS professionals who want to advance in their careers to gain leadership and supervisory positions. The four-year programs cover clinical management, leadership skills, health care financial management and health care regulations.

    Master's Degrees

    • Master's degree programs in the EMS field train EMS managers to handle a large number of emergency situations from an executive level. Graduate students study risk management, homeland security, advanced fire supervision, weapons of mass destruction and interagency disaster management.
