Guide to Buying a Used Motorcycle
Before purchasing a used motorcycle, Popular Mechanics suggests you assess your riding skills. If you are ready to take on the open road, a used motorcycle is both economically smart and a good transitional machine if you want a bike.

Finding a Motorcycle
-
Determining what type of riding you want to do and the type of used motorcycle you want to purchase is a good idea. Research the makes and models of bikes you are interested in buying. Use online sites, like Ebay, Cycle Trader and CycleLeeg, as well as local newspapers and search for used motorcycles (See Resources.)
Information
-
It is important to inspect the used motorcycle and get as much information as possible. This includes the owner(s) names, the make and model, and the vehicle identification number (VIN). Also, test drive the bike and have a mechanic check the engine.
-
History
-
A motorcycle history report provides pertinent information about the owner(s), theft data and bike's accident history. Online sites, such as Cyclechex, allow you to enter the VIN and purchase a report.
