What Is a Saturn Ion Level 1?

Saturn Ions replaced Saturn's S-Series vehicles beginning in 2003. The Saturn Ion 1 was the first model. It was followed in subsequent years by the Ion 2 and 3. All versions of the Ion were later replaced by Saturn's Astra.

Engine

The Saturn Ion 1 has a 2.2 liter, four-cylinder engine. The transmission was either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic. The vehicle is four-wheel drive.

Body Type

The Saturn Ion 1 is available as a four door sedan. A four door coupe version also is available. The rear doors of the coupe do not open independently of the front doors.

Interior

The Saturn Ion 1 has a basic interior package. It does not come with air conditioning, power windows or mirrors without an upgrade package. The subsequent Ion 2 and 3 models did come with these features standard.

Saturn

The Saturn brand has been phased out by General Motors. Saturn Ions are now only available as used vehicles.
