Can You Move an Older Manufactured Home to Jackson County, Georgia?

In Jackson County, Georgia, a manufactured home, or mobile home, must comply with the Federal Manufactured Housing Construction and Safety Standards Act set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The county also has age restrictions on manufactured homes that are moved.

Outside of the County

The maximum age allowed for a manufactured home moved into Jackson County from an outside county is 5 years. The land where the manufactured home is placed must be at least 8,712 square feet.

Intra-County

Jackson County allows you to move a home from one location to another. However, moving a manufactured home from one area in Jackson County to another is only permitted if the home is no more than 10 years old.

Inspection

Any manufactured home moved in Jackson County must pass inspection by the Public Development Department. The inspection covers: plumbing, electrical, heating and exterior and interior condition. It must be completed before the manufactured home is moved from its original site.
