Apple developed iTunes so customers can load all their music directly onto iPods. IPods can be synced with iTunes to transfer all music or selected pieces. iPods search for iTunes when synced with a computer.

iTunes 10

As of 2010, iTunes 10 is the latest version of iTunes. It can be downloaded onto a Mac or PC and gives access to all the latest software updates. ITunes organizes music and allows you to browse through the music and sync it to iPods and other devices.

Sync the iPod

The iPod comes with a dock to be plugged into the USB port on the computer. The iPod automatically pulls up the iTunes version you downloaded. The music in the iTunes library can be transferred all at once or can be selected by category.

More Than Music

The iPod Nano, Classic and Touch can also have videos, pictures and movies downloaded. One drawback is that music and videos can't be shared from device to device, so a friend will need to have direct access to your iTunes library to share your media.
