How Do Kinetic Watches Operate?

Kinetic watches do not require a battery.

Kinetic watches harness the power of the user's wrist movement to keep ticking. A kinetic watch runs without the the user winding it and without the need for a battery.

Kinetic Energy

Kinetic energy is produced through any type of movement. The energy is stored in the moving object until it stops moving or makes contact with another object, in which case the energy is transferred to the other object.

How Kinetic Watches Work

Kinetic watches harness kinetic energy within oscillating weights inside the watch. The movement of the user's wrist turns the weights and the movement of the weights produces a magnetic charge which is converted into electricity to run the watch.

Benefits of a Kinetic Watch

As kinetic watches have no battery, they do not run out and stop. A kinetic watch can store energy for months at a time, meaning they do not require constant use to keep accurate time. The user does not need to remember to wind the watch. As a kinetic watch does not require a battery it is very environmentally-friendly.
