Lucky bamboo is a symbol of success and luck because of its strength, rapid growth and fortitude. Although lucky bamboo is often found in containers of water and stones, it can also be planted in dirt. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Planting

    • Push the ends of the bamboo stalks into the dirt. Make sure the dirt is not prefertilized, because lucky bamboo is very sensitive to overfertilization. Place the lucky bamboo in a spot that gets moderate amounts of indirect light. Direct light is too strong.

    Considerations

    • Keep the dirt very moist. It's easy for lucky bamboo to dry out when planted in this medium, so water it frequently to keep the soil moist.

    Warning

    • Never let the dirt dry out completely. Feel beneath the surface, because it may still be damp a half-inch down. Water if it feels dry under the surface.
