Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and Macy's are just a few stores offering a housewarming registry. This informs others of what you need in your new home. It's acceptable to register for housewarming gifts, but not everyone agrees with this idea. Does this Spark an idea?

I am old school and think it is presumptous and tacky to include gift registery info. on a house warming invite. I will bring a bottle of wine to add to the festivities.

I agree with the expert. I think a single woman deserves something for going it alone, such as registering for the same gifts that brides and grooms receive. I have certainly bought my share of wedding gifts and baby gifts. It's not so much the gifts as it is the reason behind it. Now that I am 52 never married, I don't think I will be getting married any time soon. I just purchased my first place. I have most of the basic things so it would be interesting what people would bring. Not anything expensive. Just thoughtful gifts. I would like to be the center of affection for once in my life...
