Smaller dehumidifiers often remove about 40 pints of moisture from the air each day, while larger dehumidifiers can remove up to 75 pints per day.
Collection Cup Size

Another important factor to consider when choosing a portable dehumidifier is the size of its collection cup. Larger collection cups do not need to be emptied as often and are ideal for accommodating larger spaces. Collection cups for portable dehumidifiers can typically accommodate between 15 and 25 pints.

Energy efficiency is often a consideration when comparing portable dehumidifiers, as these devices can use a considerable amount of power to operate. Because of this, some manufacturers have designed portable dehumidifiers to shut off completely when the collection cup is full. In addition, some portable dehumidifiers have been designed to use 20 to 30 percent less energy and thereby have been afforded the ENERGY STAR label.
