How Do I Get an Application for a Fiance Visa?
Visas to enter the United States are largely dependent on the circumstances of people entering the country. With regards to fiance's visas, it is a relatively complex process, but it gives important legal protections.
-
Becoming a Legally Recognized Fiance
-
The Form I-129F (see Resources) must be completed by the U.S. citizen. This form is a petition to allow the non-U.S. citizen to apply for the form K-1. Once this form is completed it will allow the fiance to begin application for the K-1 visa at their local U.S. embassy or consulate.
Applying for the Fiance Visa
-
The K-1 visa grants a right for a legally-recognized fiance to enter the United States on the grounds that the U.S. citizen and the newly entering spouse to be get married within 90 days of arrival. Information regarding the form and the entire (lengthy) process is available in the Resources section.

Children on the Visa
-
Children are covered by the Form I-129F, and may receive K-2 visas once this form has been approved. The U.S. citizen must list the children on the original petition.
