Facts on Refilling Toner
Toner is the powder used in most printer cartridges in printers, photocopying machines and fax machines. To reduce the environmental impact and cost of office consumables, consumers can now purchase custom-made toner refill kits or refilled toner cartridges.

Refill Kits
-
Many cartridge manufacturers sell custom-made, refill units specifically designed to be easily refilled through a special hole in the edge of the cartridge. The replacement toner is provided in a plastic bottle with a special nozzle to facilitate a clean, dust-free process. Cartridges can usually be refilled at least three times.
Toners Come In Different Grades
-
The price of toners varies according to their quality. The cheaper grades contain more impurities, cause more smudges, feathering and more is needed to print a page. Although you think you may be getting a bargain, low grade toners often end up costing more in the long run. High grade toner refills often produce identical results to the name brands.

Check Capacity Of Refill Kits
-
Some unscrupulous manufacturers neglect to tell you that not all refill kits will fully refill your cartridge. Some are half-capacity and cost less than the full capacity name brand. When comparing performance, check the price against the page yield.
