Collagen Gel Preparation

Collagen gel is used for regeneration of facial skin and other applications.

Collagen is a substance found exclusively in animals, occurring in connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and skin. It is the most plentiful protein in the body. Collagen is essential for tissue regeneration and has shown positive results in restoring tissues in medical conditions and procedures.

Ophthalmology

Collagen gel is used in ophthalmology for buckling bands, suture material, tissue for keratectomy procedures and other applications. As collagen gel is easy to manipulate and does not cause inflammation, eyes are extremely tolerant of this preparation.

Cartilage

Researchers have tested the properties of collagen gel on tissue regeneration in cartilage. The collagen samples from test subjects were seeded with human chondrocytes, cells taken from cartilage. Electromagnetic tissue stimulation using this preparation showed more beneficial results than stimulation performed without the gel.

Culture Medium

Intestinal cultures are infused with collagen gel to promote faster generation. Scientists testing this procedure on mice found that large or small intestine cultures from younger animals obtained optimal generation, but these results diminished with age.

Skin Applications

Collagen gel is used as a facial mask or cream to aid in regeneration of skin tissue. Dermatologists also inject the preparation to restore facial contour and reduce lines and wrinkles.
