A 1920s party includes era-inspired clothing and accessories.

A 1920s theme party is suitable for people of all ages, including children and groups of both kids and adults. Everything in your party, including the decorations and food, should work with your 1920s theme. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Types

    • A roaring 20s party is just one example of a 20s-styled party. You can also host a costume party, where guests come dressed in clothing from the era or a gangster/flapper party, where guests must dress as one certain characters--such as Bonnie and Clyde. A more engaging party theme is a murder mystery party that will have guests guessing the entire time.

    Considerations

    • Use unexpected items in your decorating scheme, such as overturned gangster style plastic hats as bowls for chips and other snacks. Add pearl necklaces and miniature saxophones to your tables. Make centerpieces from dice, cards and poker chips, to remind guests of the underground gambling from the era.

    Kid-Friendly Potentials

    • For smaller kids and teens, host a prohibition era party and remove all alcohol from the party. Make virgin cocktails and serve in plastic champagne or martini glasses. Instead of poker, blackjack or other intensive card games, setup activities of fish, war and other basic card games familiar to young children.
