The Meaning of Orange Roses

Flowers have always connected man with his surroundings, adding beauty, sensation and meaning to the world around him. Roses in particular are well-known, easily identifiable and have been given particular meanings based on color.

  • Roses are flowering shrubs and vines and are easily recognizable by their edible fruits (rose hips), five petal blooms and prickly thorns. They can range in size from miniature roses to climbing roses that can reach to over 22 feet.

  • In both Eastern and Western civilizations, the color orange represents warmth, vibrancy, energy and enthusiasm.

  • Orange roses have signified friendship turning into desire or passion for many generations. They are also given as ways of saying "I am proud of you" or as gifts of encouragement and wishes for good health.

  • Roses are subject to a variety of fungal diseases and are food for the larvae of both butterflies and moths.

  • Most roses are native to Asia. Fewer species are native to Europe, North America and northwest Africa. Roses are cultivated all across the globe for their fruits and flowers.
