Vanda orchid

Like most orchids, the Vanda variety has specific requirements that need to be met. When these conditions are met, a Vanda orchid will produce large and colorful flowers. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Geography

    • The Vanda orchid is native to the islands of the South Pacific and often does not flower outside of its native environment. Combining them with other cultivars of orchids has made them less temperamental in other parts of the world.

    Temperatures

    • Vanda orchids prefer to grow in locales with warm temperatures. According to Landscape-and-Garden, 98 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and 59 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter are ideal for a Vanda.

    Water and Air

    • Vanda orchids need generous amounts of water and humidity to grow properly. Air movement also is an important factor, as the proper movement can prevent fungal and bacterial infections.
