Why Are the Leaves on My Pear Tree Turning Yellow?

Pear psylla is a common problem with pear trees that causes leaves to turn yellow and fall off. A nutrient disorder also causes yellow leaves. Many disorders affecting pear tree leaves look similar. Soil and tissue tests properly diagnose disorders so they can be corrected.

  • Psyllids, tiny red-brown jumping bugs, produce honeydew that invites mold and infection into pear trees. These pests come out in spring, mate, and feed on the tree by sucking out juices. The dried-out leaves turn yellow over time and fall off. The general health of the tree deteriorates.
