Lake Belton is a popular recreational lake in central Texas. Located just east of Fort Hood, the lake draws visitors from nearby Killeen and Temple as well as Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area.

  1. Campgrounds

    • There are five parks with campgrounds at Lake Belton. They are Cedar Ridge Park, Live Oak Ridge Park, Westcliff Park, White Flint Park and Winkler Park. The U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers manages all five parks.

    Amenities

    • All of the parks provide campers with access to the lake. Cedar Ridge Park and Live Oak Ridge Park have the largest campgrounds, while Westcliff, White Flint and Winkler Parks are smaller and more rustic. Most sites include water and electric hookups, except for Winkler Park, which has water only. All five parks will accommodate recreational vehicles or tent campers. Group camping is available at Turkey Roost in Cedar Ridge Park.

    Special Features

    • Cedar Ridge and Live Oak Ridge Parks offer Internet access to campers who bring their own computers. They also have laundry facilities for campers who plan extended visits. There is a convenience store and a seasonal restaurant at Cedar Ridge Park, while White Flint Park has screen shelter campsites, which are popular in early summer when flying insects are common.

    Activities

    • There are hiking trails near both Cedar Ridge and Live Oak Ridge Parks. Westcliff Park and Cedar Ridge have swimming beaches as well as playgrounds that are popular with families with small children. Winkler Park is a well-known fishing camp; winter campers come especially to fish for record-size catfish.
