What Is the Differnce Between XP Home & XP Pro?
Both versions of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system, Home Edition and Professional Edition, contain a range of helpful programs and software. However, the two versions are very different in their preinstalled contents and anticipated user base.

Microsoft's Windows XP Home Edition contains all the basic elements needed to run XP. Games, Internet Explorer 6, Windows Messenger and Windows Movie Maker are some of the base programs that are bundled with the Home Edition.
Windows XP Professional Edition

Windows XP Professional Edition is made for a corporate environment. Windows XP Professional Edition comes preinstalled with special programs best suited for a business office. An encrypting file system, remote desktop server, access to Windows server domain and other expanded networking features are included to increase an office's productivity.

The main differences between the Home and Professional versions are Professional's improved security, networking, user interface and corporate-related options. XP's Home Edition is intended for the average PC user, while Professional Edition is marketed for a busy business office.
