Homemade Cart Covers
Grocery cart covers are simple to make at home, and less expensive than purchasing at a store or online. Cart covers help to keep the germs away from small children who ride in the front section of a grocery cart.

Features
-
Grocery cart covers are made of fabric and elastic. They are placed in the front seat of a grocery cart with the elastic sides reaching around to hold it in place. There are two holed in the front for a child's legs to fit through.
Function
-
There are hundreds of germs that can be found on a grocery cart, and children sit in the grocery carts and put their hands and mouths all over the handle and sides of a cart. The cart cover keeps the child away from the germs, and can easily be thrown in the washing machine to clean.

Benefits
-
Grocery cart covers keep children away from any germs that might be on the cart itself. Making a cart cover instead of buying one keeps the price down, and allows you to pick your own fabric.
Time Frame
-
It will take a few hours to make your own cart cover. The time can vary, however, depending on how skilled you are at sewing. Patterns can be purchased at any fabric store within just a few minutes, and then you can get started on on the cutting and sewing.
Materials
-
For the basic cart cover, you will need about one and a half yards of fabric in any design. If you want a double sided cart cover, purchase one and a half yards of each fabric. Bias tape, elastic and snaps of Velcro finish up the materials you will need to create your cart cover.
