Effects
-
While each program has proven successful, Medifast and Jenny Craig members typically become dependent on prepackaged foods and have difficulty maintaining weight when returning to their own nutritional choices. Members of Weight Watchers are better equipped to succeed beyond the program.
Considerations
-
Medifast foods are low in carbohydrates, which puts the body in ketosis so that more fat is burned. While this may be beneficial to diabetics, it can be a dangerous strategy, as the brain is solely fueled by carbohydrates.
Features
-
Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers provide group meetings for additional motivation. In addition, Jenny Craig offers introductory meetings with counselors, as well as access to meetings by phone.
