Small businesses have a number of opportunities to receive energy assistance.

The state of Wisconsin offers various programs that promote energy efficiency. Small businesses have the opportunity to receive energy assistance for a number of projects that lead to more efficient energy policies and practices.

  1. Focus on Energy

    • The Focus on Energy program provides on-site energy assessments to small businesses that identify energy-saving changes in the workplace, technical knowledge in implementing projects and practices that will lead to cost effectiveness and financial assistance to help pay for implementation of energy efficiency changes. Focus also offers training on energy-saving technology and practices.

    Wisconsin Financial Incentives

    • The Wisconsin Department of Commerce provides low-interest loans to support renewable energy as well as to employers that promote energy efficiency. This program provides up to 25 percent of the cost of a project that will lead to increased energy efficiency. They also offer deferred payment for up to one year.

    Wisconsin Energy Independence

    • The Wisconsin Energy Independent Fund helps small businesses support the development of clean energy technology, including electrical, mechanical and thermal projects. Grants and loans are also awarded to research facilities studying energy efficiency.

    Department of Commerce

    • The Wisconsin Department of Commerce oversees the Wisconsin Diesel Truck Idling Reduction Grant program, which offers grants to freight carriers for idling reduction devices in newer trucks. The reduction devices supply electricity so that engines no longer are used to heat or cool the cab or other parts of the truck.
