2003 Ford Lightning Specs

The 2003 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is a powerful sport truck that combines the utility of a single-cab, short-bed F-150 with big V8 horsepower for a truck that puts up some surprising performance numbers. The halo F-150 was developed by Ford's Special Vehicles Team.

  1. Drivetrain

    • At the SVT Lightning's heart is a supercharged 5.4-liter 16V Triton V8 producing 380 horsepower at 4,750 rpm and 450 lbs.-ft torque at 3,250 rpm. The transmission is a four-speed automatic hooked up to a locking differential with 3.73:1 gear ratio. Bilstein gas shocks are used all around.

    Exterior and Interior

    • Outside, the 2003 Lightning differentiates itself by way of different side skirts, front and rear bumpers and hood. Ride height drops 1.5 inches in the front and 2 inches out back. Other unique touches are fog lamps and a trick side exit exhaust system. The interior seats three and features aluminum accents for a sporty look.

    Performance

    • Though the 2003 F-150 Lightning can haul 1,400 lbs. of cargo, it is tuned for street performance rather than work utility. The truck puts up sports car acceleration numbers, running 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and a 13.7-second quarter-mile, according to "Motor Trend" testing.
