Manicures and pedicures are beauty treatments for fingernails and toenails. While these treatments are typically done in a nail salon, it can be quite simple to do your own manicure or pedicure at home with the right tools. Does this Spark an idea?

Manicure

Typical nail shapes are square or rounded. Start by removing old nail polish then soaking hands in salt water. Trim nails and file them into a square or rounded shape. Soak hands in water and push back cuticles. Dry hands and apply polish to fingernails with a clear base coat then follow with your desired color. Finish with a clear top coat.
Pedicure

Pedicures are very popular in the summer. Remove all old nail polish from your toenails. Trim and file toenails then soak feet in soapy water or salt water for about 10 minutes. Apply a layer of foot cream to feet and push cuticles back. Polish nails with a clear base coat followed by the color coat and finish with the clear top coat.

Tools

You can find manicure and pedicure tools at most drugstores. The tools you will need are a bowl of warm, soapy water or salt water, nail polish remover, a wooden cuticle pusher and a hand towel. You will also need nail clippers, cotton balls, a nail file, hand and foot lotion. To finish you will need clear and color polish.
