Simply hired is simply wrong. Well paid adjunct courses in the NYC area pay about 3,500- 4,000 per course. Most adjuncts are hard pressed to find more than 6-8 courses to teach per year. (Adjuncts can be fired for any reason and at any time. They are not eligible for unemployment insurance when they are not working.) Adjuncts often do not quality for medical or pensions benefits. This is not the fun job it may appear to be.
