Artisan bread cannot be found straight off an assembly line, wrapped in plastic, with an extended shelf life. It is made from the most basic of ingredients--flour, yeast, salt and water--with no chemicals added. While other ingredients may be added depending on the type of bread, they will be natural ingredients like olive oil, sugar or herbs.
