There are many RV parks and campgrounds in Los Angeles County, a vast region that includes lakes, beaches, deserts, mountains and grasslands within its borders. These campsites are close to Southern California's museums, theme parks like Disneyland and other attractions.

  1. Birmingham RV Park

    • This Van Nuys park with 185 sites is open year round. Amenities include full hook-ups, picnic tables and two large laundry rooms. Pets are allowed, but there are size and breed restrictions. Nearby attractions include Cal State Northridge, Griffith Park Observatory and the J. Paul Getty Museum. Daily rates in April 2010 were $39 to $40, with discounts for groups and seniors. Weekly and monthly rates are also available.

    Dockweiler Beach RV Park

    • Billed as L.A. County's only recreational vehicle campground "on the beach," the Playa del Rey park with 117 sites is open year round. Amenities include complete hook-ups, hot showers, a laundry room and a handy pump-out station. The adjacent beach has volleyball courts, a bicycle trail and waters ripe for "surfishing." Marina del Rey, the Redondo Beach Pier and Santa Monica beaches are also nearby. Daily rates in April 2010 were between $55 and $65.

    Malibu Beach RV Park

    • Located across the street from Dan Blocker Beach, the Malibu park with 175 sites is open year round. Amenities include full or partial hook-ups and a hot tub for adults. Seals, whales and dolphins have been seen by park guests, hiking trails are nearby and town is just three miles away. April 2010 daily rates were between $42 and $47 for tent camping, $53 to $90 for an RV space and $275 for a cottage.

    Valencia Travel Village

    • Set in a country setting with mature trees, this park five miles outside Valencia has 303 sites and is open year round. Amenities include full and partial hook-ups, a convenience store, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, an arcade, a laundry room, a heated family pool and a heated kiddie pool. Pet friendly, the park also has a dog run. Magic Mountain is just three miles away, and churches, shopping and golf courses are nearby. Call or email for the latest rates.

    Walnut RV Park

    • Set in a quiet area next to Los Encinos State Park but centrally located to freeways, shopping and restaurants, this Northridge park has 112 sites and is open year round. Amenities include full hook-ups, a laundry room, a swimming pool, a meeting area and a clubhouse with kitchen. Whitewater paddling at Piru Creek, hiking at Dagger Flat Trail and golf at Mission Hills Golf Course are nearby. Daily rates were $55 in April 2010.
