Grant Money for Domestic Abuse
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, its Office of Violence against Women administers 19 federal grant programs to reduce domestic violence. These grants are passed on to state governments for distribution. In addition to government grants, several corporations and private foundations target victims of domestic violence for assistance.

The Office of Violence against Women administers technical and financial assistance to programs across the U.S. that are developing policies and practices to end domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. The STOP (Services, Training, Officers, Prosecutors) grant funds programs to improve effective law enforcement and to provide more advocacy for victims of domestic violence. By law, each state receives $600,000 and excess funds are then distributed to states based on their population.

The Allstate Foundation in partnership with the National Network to End Domestic Violence offers a grant focusing on job training and education. The grant awards survivors up to $1,000 to help meet their educational expenses. The Mary Kay Foundation offers a Shelter grant to help with the operation of domestic violence shelters. Each year, the foundation awards funds to at least one shelter in every state.

Private Foundations

Amy's Courage Fund provides emergency assistance of up to $2,000 to victims of domestic violence immediately following their escape from the abusive situation. Funds may be used for moving, new housing expenses, legal fees, or transportation expenses. The R.O.S.E. Fund provides free access to dental, medical, and facial reconstructive procedures for women whose needs are a direct result of domestic violence.
