Purchasing designer bags from locations other than a department store or the company's website can ease the buyer's wallet. However, there may be a chance that the bag is not authentic. There are several ways to authenticate your Prada bag.

Materials

Prada will only use the highest quality materials available. Take note to see if the bag feels smooth, or if it feels rough. Leather that is fake can often look and feel like plastic. If this is the case, the bag may be a fake. Like the material the bag is made of, the stitch-work on the bag should appear high-quality.

Logo Plaques

The majority of Prada bags have an exterior plaque. It is triangular in shape and will have Prada's logo. Below the logo it should read "Milano." The plaque's marking should appear slightly raised. Inside the bag, there is often a plaque. This plaque should be rectangular. Make sure to look at the letter "R" in the word Prada. This letter should look distinct.

Hardware

The hardware on Prada will be one of three colors. These colors are gold, rose gold and silver. Any of these are fine, but take special note if the same hardware color is used all over the bag. Varying metal shades may be the sign of a fake.
