Lake Clark National Park Lodging

Cook Inlet separates the Kenai Peninsula and Lake Clark National Park.

In the rugged Aleutian Range, about 100 miles southwest of Anchorage, on the western shore of Cook Inlet, is Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. Established in 1980, it remains a remote wilderness without road access. Two active volcanoes add to the area's majesty. Glacier lakes form in the valleys, with Lake Clark being the largest. Camping facilities are limited and primitive. Lodges are small but comfortable, and provide ideal locations for many Alaskan adventures.

  1. Lodging in the Park

    • Lodging in the park itself varies from bed-and breakfasts serving a few guests to sports lodges that can host up to 16 guests. Some lodges are open year-round, but most depend on the June to September season for their business. Most guests fly in from Anchorage, Homer or Soldotna on floatplanes or to the Port Alsworth airport.

    Lake Lodges

    • Visitors to Lake Clark Park often choose wildlife viewing as an excursion.

The glaciers of the Chigmit Mountains feed the valley lakes, which have shores that make ideal locations for lodges. Such is the Redoubt Mountain Lodge on the shores of Crescent Lake. Other lodges are on Lake Clark's shores, such as Alaska's Wilderness Lodge, Alaska's Lake Clark Inn, The Farm Lodge and Koksetna Wilderness Lodge. All offer majestic views of the wilderness, including the Redoubt Volcano itself. They also offer comfortable accommodations and meals, guided tours, wildlife viewing and fishing guides.

    Cook Inlet Lodges

    • Also located in the park at Cook Inlet, Silver Salmon Creek Lodge is a full-service facility for up to 16 guests. It offers one- to seven-day excursions for sport fishing, sightseeing and wildlife observation, especially bears as they fish for salmon in the streams. Guests can book rooms at the lodge, or they can choose a private cabin or a fully furnished camp tent. Meals and guide services are included.
