Carnival Cruise Stateroom Categories Explained

After a day of all-you-can-eat food, playing on the sands of exotic beaches and dancing the night away you can return to your Carnival Cruise Lines stateroom to relax and unwind. Carnival offers five different levels of staterooms.

Interior

Interior staterooms on Carnival are the least expensive, with the basic bed, bathroom, closet and television. situated on inner hallways and thus no views of the water. A regular interior room is typically 185 sq. ft.

Ocean View

The next price level up is the Ocean View stateroom, mostly identical to interior staterooms but with large windows to see the water. The average Ocean View stateroom is 185 sq. ft. but on the newer class ships, 220 sq. ft.

Balcony

The Balcony stateroom mimics the Ocean View, but includes an outdoor balcony. The balconies are anywhere from 35 to 75 sq. ft. Premium balcony rooms offer a wrap-around balcony.

Suites

Suites on Carnival cruises have more space and amenities than the lower level staterooms. On newer class ships they are around 275 sq. ft. and, along with the balcony and separate sitting room, have two closets and a private whirlpool bathtub.

Grand Suite

Grand Suites average anywhere from 330 sq. ft. on older ships to 345 sq. ft. on the newer class of ships. In addition to the extra space of a regular suite, the newer Grand Suite staterooms offer a walk-in closet. The balconies are also the largest.
