What Is Oyster Shooter Dinnerware?
Purists like to savor their steamed or raw oysters right off the shell. Oyster shooter dinnerware is designed to serve the oysters in a more attractive way, and includes large plates that can hold several shells, small individual dishes, or shot-type glasses. Does this Spark an idea?

Individual Dishes
-
During the Victorian era, removing the oysters from their shells and serving them on individual dishes replaced the practice of serving them over ice. According to The House and Home Magazine, these small ornate saucers are now considered collectors' items.
Oyster Plates
-
A more modern way to serve oysters on the half-shell is to place them on plates specially designed with small indentations that hold the shells in place. The plates are large enough to allow for crushed ice to be tucked in between the shells, and are usually accompanied by a small oyster fork.

Crystal Glasses
-
Oysters can also be served in shooter glasses. These can range from small champagne glasses to those seen in bars that hold approximately 1.5 ounce. Each holds one oyster and whatever flavorings were used in its preparation.
