    • The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the top-paying industries for psychiatrists are local government, company management, state government, outpatient care facilities and nursing care facilities. Psychiatrists working in physician's offices earned an average of $154,650 in 2009 while those working in outpatient care centers averaged $190,340 per year.
