Ergonomic Specialist Training
Ergonomics is the application of scientific data in relation to humans, and the design and construction of objects and systems intended for general human usage, according to the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors. Ergonomics consultants must undergo specialist-level training to work in this field.

Undergraduate Programs

Ergonomics consultants must hold a relevant undergraduate degree such as psychology or human factors psychology. Most universities offer bachelor's degree programs in these fields. The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society website lists several universities that offer the relevant degree courses.
HFES Accredited Graduate Program

The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society offers accredited graduate programs in universities throughout the United States. Graduates who wish to specialize in a specific field of ergonomics should select only accredited programs, such as that offered by Ohio State University.

On-the-Job Training

Once candidates complete the relevant study courses, an ergonomics specialist undergoes on-the-job training. This could either take shape as an internship or an interactive training period.
