Why is it Dangerous to Mix Shampoo & Detergent?
Detergents and shampoos are similar cleansing agents, but specific ingredients tailor each cleanser for its particular purpose. Detergents are powerful-bleaching agents and stain removers, while shampoos are light, hair cleansers and moisturizers. Thus mixing laundry detergent with shampoo and using it as a hair cleanser can result in long-term hair and skin damage. Does this Spark an idea?

Shampoo Ingredients
-
Shampoo has a weak, bleach base combined with moisturizers, fragrances, emollients and proteins. These ingredients combine to cleanse dirt, odor and dead skin from the hair while restoring shine and promoting healthy growth.
Detergent Ingredients
-
Detergent has a strong, bleaching base with active chemical agents to brighten and whiten clothing while also removing stubborn stains. These stains convert into soluble particles after extended wash periods, and water then rinses these particles away.

Considerations
-
Cloth is fundamentally much more stable than human hair and skin cells, which are alive. Therefore continually using detergent mixed with shampoo to cleanse your hair can significantly lighten its color, while also stripping it of moisture and damaging the scalp and hair follicles. There are label warnings on the most powerful detergents that even short term contact with the hands can result in skin damage.
