Add some special details to your manicure.

Customizing your do-it-yourself manicure is still possible if you are missing nail glue. You can certainly use Super Glue for repairs--just not for coating before attaching fake fingernails. There are also a few precautions to take to prevent gluing your fingers together. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Types

    • There are a few different Super Glue products available. Some have more holding power than others. Do not use any purchased from a hardware or home improvement store intended for use by contractors with heavy materials such as wood and metal. The ingredients will not act the same way and you could end up damaging your fingernails.

    Function

    • Use Super Glue only to repair minor damages, like a broken nail or a missing gem or two. Do not use Super Glue to glue on fake nails, because this may damage your own fingernails, depending upon what ingredients are in the glue. It is best to use a strong nail glue designed specifically for nails if you are doing fake nails. Only use Super Glue on nails in a pinch. Using a small amount will not cause as much damage to the nail as coating the entire nail and then adding the fake nail on top of it. Use the Super Glue on top of a fake nail if you wish. You do not run any risk or damage in this case.

    Warning

    • It is of the utmost importance that you never allow your skin to come into contact with Super Glue. You will end up losing your top layer of skin once you pull the glued fingers apart from each other. Super Glue dries very quickly and a bond is created as soon as it makes contact with whatever is placed on it. And remember: Do not attach fake fingernails with Super Glue.
