Toddler Snoring Treatment

Toddler Snoring Treatment thumbnail
Toddler snoring occurs for several different reasons.

Snoring is very common in adults as well as children. Toddler snoring can indicate several serious health problems including sleep apnea (intermittent breathing throughout a sleep period), or enlarged nodes and tonsils. It is best to visit your child's doctor to rule out these health problems.

  1. Sleeping Position

    • Changing the child's sleeping position is a way to treat toddler snoring. Often, toddlers laying on their sides and stomach are able to breathe better. If necessary, special sleeping pillows help alleviate snoring problems.

    Regular Sleeping Pattern

    • One way of treating toddler snoring is to establish a sleeping pattern for the child. Children who do not have a regular sleeping pattern and sleep at different times of the day can develop various health problems including snoring.

    Child Mouth Guard

    • A doctor might find it helpful to have the child fitted with a mouth guard to treat snoring problems. The guard assists in holding the tongue down while the child is sleeping.
