How to Compare the Features of Three Different Laptops
Comparing laptops can be overwhelming unless you're computer savvy. Fortunately, all laptops have the same core components that you can compare against all other models. To compare three laptops, simply look at the specifications of each component.

Core Features
-
The most important attributes to compare are the processing speed and the amount of RAM in a computer. Processing speed is the CPU's ability to handle tasks quickly and is measured in GHz, which stands for gigahertz. As of 2010, a common processing speed is 2 GHz. A computer with a 4GHz processor, for example, will be twice as fast as a 2GHz one.
RAM, on the other hand, is the number of tasks your computer can handle at once and is measure in gigabytes. As of 2010, 2Gb of RAM is a standard RAM size. A computer with 4Gb of RAM, for example, will be able to handle approximately double the amount of activity of a 2Gb card without slowing down. Fortunately, most computers have options to increase the amount of RAM after purchase.
Productive Features
-
Basic and extra accessories can heavily affect your productive ability, as well as your fondness of the laptop. Hard drive space, for example, is the amount of data you can store. As of 2010, many computers have 160Gb of space as standard size.
Accessories, such as a webcam, wireless cards, memory card slots and number of USB ports, can heavily influence the "likeability" of a laptop. Depending on your needs, a video chat may be a high priority, which will require a webcam, or several USB ports may be preferred for plugging in peripherals.
Lacking a certain feature useful to your lifestyle may be a pet peeve for the lifetime of the laptop.

Price
-
Price is the single most-determining factor when purchasing a laptop. Compare the same model computer among different retailers, such as Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, etc. Also, online search engines can compare prices among several outlets, many of which are hard-to-find companies.
First, determine the amount of processing speed and RAM you need, and then the accessory features that make your computer worthwhile and fun. Finally, compare the prices offered on a specific model from each retailer. Special items like rebates and other bonuses are useful (and actually work), but shouldn't entirely dictate your choice.
